What is Physical Education?
Physical education significantly contributes to students’ well-being; therefore, it is an instructional priority for California schools and an integral part of our students’ educational experience. High-quality physical education instruction contributes to good health, develops fundamental and advanced motor skills, improves students’ self-confidence, and provides opportunities for increased levels of physical fitness that are associated with high academic achievement. - California Department of Education
My Professional Mission...
The curriculum has to be developmentally and instructionally relevant for all students. Which is why I focus on improving student’s cooperative skills, self-confidence, self-responsibility, respect for others, cultural understanding and knowledge of a variety of games/sports. I regularly assess student progress and modify lessons and progressions accordingly. My mission is to provide students with an opportunity to learn while maintaining a positive safe educational experience in physical education.
My Personal Vision...
I am truly passionate about teaching our youth. More importantly I am passionate about having the opportunity to build relationships with my students that helps them build a sense of confidence, self esteem, and enable them to grow as learners. My goal as a teacher is to encourage and motivate my students to become life-long lovers of movement & activity. I want to provide students with the opportunity to explore different types of physical activities that will lead them to living a healthy lifestyle.
